This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the PackSmart AI mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

A. Information You Provide to Us

Registration/Account Data:

  • Mandatory: Email address, password (stored in a secured, hashed format), and User Type (Individual/Business).
  • Business User Mandatory Profile: Information required to complete the business profile (e.g., business name, contact information, etc.).

Profile Info: Any additional information you choose to provide in your profile.

Communication Data: Information submitted when you use features like:

  • Support Tickets
  • Feedback and App Ratings
  • Requests for Account Deletion

Customer Records (Business Users Only): Names, contact information, and any other details Business Users create for their customers within the app.

B. Data Created by Your Use of the App

Organization Data: Data related to your physical property organization:

  • Home, Room, Container, and Item details (names, descriptions, quantities)
  • Label details (e.g., generated label numbers/IDs)
  • Item details added manually or generated via AI
  • Search history and sorting preferences

Business Customer Records (Business Users Only): All Home, Room, Container, and Item data maintained for their respective customers.

C. Information Collected Automatically

  • Device and Usage Data: Information about how you access and use the app, such as device type, operating system version, app usage statistics (e.g., feature usage, crash reports), and IP address.
  • Log Data: Server logs related to API interactions (login, registration, profile updates, data sync, etc.).

D. Third-Party Information

  • Google Sign-in: We collect your name and email address as provided by Google to create/link your account.
  • AI Feature: The AI functionality processes the text input (item descriptions, etc.) you provide to generate suggestions.

2. How We Use Your Information

Data Type Primary Purpose
Registration/Login Data To create, manage, and secure your account (including login, forgot/change password).
Google Sign-in Data To facilitate quick registration and login.
Local/App Data (Homes, Items, Labels) To provide the core functionality of the app (storage organization, tracking, sorting, search, breadcrumbs, labelling, barcode scanning).
Business Customer Data To allow Business Users to manage their customer's organization records.
Support & Feedback Data To respond to your inquiries, address issues, and improve the app.
Device/Usage Data For internal analytics, troubleshooting, monitoring API performance, and improving app stability.
AI Generated Data To provide the suggested content for items.

3. Data Storage, Security, and Your Local Data

  • Local Database: All your Home, Room, Container, and Item data is stored locally on your device by default. This data is not automatically uploaded to our servers unless you use the Backup feature.
  • API/Server Data: Your account information (email, password hash, profile data, support tickets) and any data that needs to be synchronized between devices are stored on our secure servers.
  • Google Drive Backup & Import:
    • The app allows you to manually back up and import your local data to/from your own Google Drive account.
    • This is an explicit action you initiate in the Settings menu.
    • We do not have access to your Google Drive outside of the file(s) you explicitly authorize us to read or write for the backup feature.
    • The backup file contains your organizational data (Homes, Rooms, etc.).
  • Security Measures: We use commercially acceptable methods (e.g., encryption, access control) to protect your personal information, but acknowledge that no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

4. Sharing Your Information

  • Service Providers: We may share your data (e.g., Usage Data) with third-party service providers (like cloud hosting providers for the API, analytics services) strictly for them to perform services on our behalf.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.
  • Business Users & Their Customers: Business Users are responsible for obtaining the necessary consent from their customers for the collection and use of their data within the PackSmart AI app. We are only a Processor of this data on behalf of the Business User.

5. Your Rights and Choices

  • Access and Update: You can access and update your profile information within the app settings.
  • Data Portability (Backup/Import): You can export your organizational data manually using the Google Drive Backup feature.
  • Account Deletion: You can request account deletion in the app. Upon receiving a verified request, we will delete your personal data from our active servers. Note: Some information may be retained for a limited time for legal and auditing purposes.
  • Opt-Out of Data Collection: You can stop all collection of information by the app by uninstalling the application.

6. Children's Privacy

The app is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to update this policy. When we do, we will notify you (e.g., via email or an in-app notice) and update the "Last Updated" date at the top of the policy.
